Hi, I’m Lauren and I'm the new Visitor Officer intern at Fairburn Ings. I recently graduated from Sheffield University where I studied Sociology; however my real passion has always been with wildlife and conservation. I have done various bits of volunteering including practical conservation work with the Shropshire Wildlife Trust, assisting with Forest School lessons and working with orang-utans in Borneo. I think it’s so important to conserve our wildlife for future generations to enjoy and I love to make the most of the natural world. I’m really looking forward to getting to know the reserve and its visitors, including both the birds and the public! I am hoping to develop lots of new skills, have an amazing experience and meet lots of great people.

Hello, I’m Julie the St Aidan's Site Development Officer intern and I'm a Dorset girl born and bred. I was a Vet Nurse for 13 years before completing a BSc Hon in environmental biology, since then I’ve been working my way towards a career in conservation. I love landscape scale ecology, ancient trees, chalk grassland and nature in general. I really want to build my experience and confidence during the internship and am very excited about the opportunity. I’m a big kid at heart, I used to be quite sporty but I’m more inclined to enjoy a nice slice of cake with a big cup of tea these days.

So if you see either of us around the visitor centre please come and say hello!
