Community family nature events

We know that trying to create a fun filled summer for your little ones can be exhausting. Taking hours of research and perfect planning... who has the time for it? But we also know how important spending quality time with your little ones whilst they're off is important to families, so we've taken the strain away with our Community Family Nature Events at RSPB St Aidan’s this summer!

It's well known that spending time outdoors in nature boosts mental and physical wellbeing, and the kids will have a ball! Not only are the events free- which is a mega bonus for your wallets, lets be honest summer can be expensive!- but they'll allow you to create the most amazing summer for your family that everyone will look back on fondly for years to come.

If you are looking for something to keep the family entertained over the long summer holidays and help them connect with the natural world, we will be holding weekly Community Family Nature Events at RSPB St Aidan’s during August. Guaranteed you'll make memories with your loved ones that'll last a lifetime.

Running every Tuesday morning from 11am – 12pm, Jo our Community Engagement Officer will be hosting free family events. Meet just before 11am in the picnic area outside the Little Owl Café.

Tues 1st August Family Bug Safari – join us to find out more about the smallest bugs and beasties that call St Aidan’s their home. Will we spot any wolf spiders hunting?

Tues 8th August Family Bird Spotting Walk – learn how to tell a coot from a moorhen on a leisurely stroll around Bowers Lake. How many different ducks will we spot?

Tues 15th August Family Wildflower Walk – we will be exploring the wildflowers of the hillside path; we might even spot some butterflies too.

Tues 22nd August Family Bug Safari – learn how to tell the difference between a dragonfly and a damselfly. How many different species will we spot?

Tues 29th August Family Nature Ramble – join us for a short walk around the reserve to see what wildlife we can spot as we get to the end of summer.
