This week has been great for spotting Green Sandpipers at the reserve and they were seen most days from Pick Up hide. Pick Up was also a good place to be on Wednesday and Friday to see the Yellow Wagtail visitors we had. This is a nationally declining species, which used to breed here at Fairburn Ings so any sightings are always greatly welcomed.

On Monday we were graced with a visit from 34 Black Tailed Godwits. They hung around down on New Flash for part of the day allowing a few people the opportunity to witness them feeding. Then as quickly as they arrived, they flew off and that was the end of that.

Today there have been a few reports of raptors around the reserve starting with 3 Kestrels from Pick Up hide. A male Marsh Harrier was seen flying West over the Flashes and in the same area a female Peregrine Falcon was spotted soaring high and out of sight up in to the clouds.
