The warmer days of early spring now seem long ago, as this cold spell continues. But all is not lost, around the farm now is a great time to see swifts, swallows, sand martins and house martins all feeding very close to the ground looking for insects.

Out on the ponds and beyond, a pair of tufted ducks which we’re watching to see if they breed, a second brood of ducklings for the mallard, and the mute swan which is still on the nest.

We’re on the look out for the first hobby to be seen here around the farm, we shouldn’t have to wait too much longer. Come along to the free Saturday walk at 2 in the afternoon and help us spot one.

Gareth.
