Thanks to money from Pennon Environmental
Trust the visitor facilities at Exminster Marsh have had an injection of cash.
The money has enabled the RSPB to give the site a facelift, through the installation
of new signs and bicycle racks and in the next week a new viewing screen, which
will greatly enhance the reserve and improve the visitor experience. Located on the National Cycle
Route 2, both Exminster and Matford reserves are popular destinations for many casual
cyclists, and the provision of cycle racks is both a recognition and appreciation
of this.

As a large open flat landscape it can be difficult to provide people a
good visitor experience, when footpaths through the site and inappropriate
viewing facilities will disturb the very wildlife people visit the site to see.
However the funding has enabled the RSPB to develop a corner of the reserve
which provides a new nature trail, linking from the existing public footpath leading
to a perfect location for a viewing screen, soon to be installed.

The project has received £10,000 funding from Viridor
Credits Environmental Company, through the Landfill Communities Fund.

Viridor Credits Environmental Company distributes
funding through the Landfill Communities Fund. Funding is available for
community and environmental projects within ten miles of an active Viridor
landfill site. Since its inception Viridor Credits has allocated over £70M to
over a thousand projects across the UK.
