This week's half term has hosted lots of activities for families. We've been hunting for spooky spiders around our trail. Finding newts, snakes and toads in our Discovery Area, mixing up bird feeders in cauldrons and creating monsters from dead plant material.
Thanks to all the families who took part and supported the RSPB over the autumn half term. We had some great feedback so I am really pleased that they enjoyed themselves!
Bird highlights on the reserve this week have been:
A number of ring ouzels and fieldfare passing through, up to 20 great white egrets, spotted redshank, grey plover, bittern, 7 cattle egrets and redwing.
Ring ouzel (male) - Andy Hay. Ring ouzels are a blackbird sized bird but with a very distinct white crescent under its throat.
