Hi all

The following sightings were of particular note over the past two days:

Garganey – up to four.  Goldeneye – one male and six females on the ARC pit.  Slavonian grebe – five on 5th including a pair displaying on New Excavations.  Black-necked grebe – one on Denge Marsh.  Bittern – one booming at Hooker’s pits and one at the ARC site on 5th.  Great white egret – one on Denge Marsh.  Osprey – one flew over the car park on 4th.  Avocet – four at the ARC site on 4th.   Little ringed plover – two near the track to the viewing screen.     Whimbrel – one on Denge Marsh on 5th.  Curlew – 63 near Boulderwall Farm on 4th.  Whitethroat – two (the first of the year) near the return trail on 5th.  Willow warbler – up to four daily.  Penduline tit – three flying between the ARC Willow trail and Hooker’s pits on 4th, last seen at Willow trail early on 5th. 

Also sand martin, house martin, swallow, yellow wagtail, wheatear, sedge warbler and chiffchaff.
