A bittern seen flying from Denge Marsh into Hooker's pits yesterday afternoon was heard to issue a single boom just after landing.  Let's hope he becomes a bit more vocal and finds himself a mate.

The three penduline tits were seen at the Willow trail early this morning but then put in a surprise appearance at Hooker's pits.

Other highlights so far today: two Slavonian grebes on New Excavations, two black-necked grebes on Denge Marsh (displaying) and a pair of tree sparrows on the feeders in the car park.
