It's been a busy time at Dove Stone lately - flowers blooming, bees buzzing, Peregrine chicks fledging.....what?!? Yes, almost before we knew it, the resident Peregrine pair had defied the late snow, laid and hatched 3 eggs, and the chicks fledged Monday before last!
We had some views of the chicks as they grew from fluffy grey blobs to fully feathered fledglings, and now we're seeing them even more as they start to learn to hunt and hone their flying skills. Today we even saw a mid-air food pass between one of the adults and a juvenile! Amazing stuff. Thanks to Stephen Burke for this cracking photo from the other day!
If you fancy coming along to see if you can see them, Date With Nature will be at Ashway Gap (where the picnic tables are) with telescopes and binoculars Thursday to Sunday throughout the summer, usually around 11:30-3:30pm. Come and have a go at our Peregrine quiz trail and see how much you know!
