Part of how the RSPB team at Dove Stone get their kicks is through involving people in the wildlife and environment here. The community, youth and education work we deliver is part of our Access to Nature project which is funded by the National Lottery. Dove Stone isn't unique amongst RSPB reserves for delivering community and education work that's funded by the National Lottery. Take RSPB's Saltholme reserve, for example. Saltholme's quite topical at the moment as this is a reserve that has been shortlisted in the National Lottery's annual awards. There are different categories in the award and Saltholme is being recognised for its contribution to education, specifically outdoor education - connecting young people with wildlife through a range of activities. Being in the top-ten is good but to progress further into that top-three and possibly onwards to be the project nominated for this year's award it's all down to public voting, as it should be. So if you want to support the great work that Saltholme are doing and help to nominate Saltholme as the National Lottery's award winner why not vote ? All you have to do is go online and press the vote button. It really is as easy as that... Voting closes on July 22nd.
