Our BioBlitz has finally arrived and today is all about finding, identifying and recording as much wildlife as we can at Dove Stone.  And if we can record much more than the 400 species we recorded last year that will be really good. We want to show just how much biodiversity there is at Dove Stone.

So,  we've been building up to today's BioBlitz with a top-10 countdown of species at Dove Stone.  Here's the list so far:  Green Hairstreak,  Crossbill,  Violet Ground Beetle,  Noctule bat, Sphagnum Moss,  Bilberry Bumblebee,  Amethyst Deceiver,  Downy Birch and Mountain Hare.  Our final species and number one in our top-10 countdown is,  of course,  the Peregrine.  The Peregrine is our top species for many reasons,  but suffice to say this is truly an amazing bird and it's really great that we have the opportunity to watch and learn about these birds at Dove Stone.

And just to confirm,  Peregrine has made it on to our records for this year's BioBlitz already as we recorded this a Peregrine seen on Dove Stone rocks this morning.   That's it for the Peregrine post - keeping it short as we have wildlife to find and record.  And if you're around today the BioBlitz runs through until at least 4pm.

More soon with a 'best-of-the-rest' posting on some of those species which didn't quite make it into the top-10...
