IS THERE ANYBODY OUT THERE?

Hello again, it’s Volunteer Shaun here. You might remember me as the big bloke with the big hat who works as an RSPB Welcome volunteer at the Old Moor reserve in South Yorkshire’s beautiful Dearne Valley. You might also remember that towards the end of last year I put my View From The Shed blogs on indefinite hiatus. This was due to several issues but I’m very pleased to report that all is well on all fronts now, so as of next week the blog will be back to normal, offering you my weekly collection of views inspired by what I see from the Welcome Shed. See what I did there? Views from my views?

So in the next few weeks I’ll be asking:

Does nature help with physical healing (from a very personal perspective)?;

Whatever happened to Winter?;

Can birds count on their fingers?;

Which birds have the best memories?;

…and many more questions both sensible and much, much less so. If you've read before then you'll know that things can get pretty silly, but there's always a serious germ of an idea in there somewhere.

I have one favour to ask though before I get back into the swing of things. If you managed to find and read this re-introductory teaser, would you put a like or a comment or something, just so we can see that it’s getting back out there again?

Thanks and I’ll be back here in a few days with the first regular blog of 2024.

Volunteer Shaun welcomes visitors to RSPB Old Moor. He also writes a weekly blog about life at the reserve titled, "View From the Shed". He usually wears a big hat.
