Hello there, the good news is that the glossy ibis was still at Old Moor today.
Mary Wilde was there and managed to take these lovely photos of it. Thanks Mary.
As far as I know, it has been on the field pools all day and Karen, assistant warden, told me that some of the best views of it today were to be had from the drive.
Good news all round I think!
Understandably most of the attention today has been on the glossy ibis, however there were a few other sightings!
The Barnsley Birders early tweet today told us of: the glossy ibis, 2 black tailed godwit and 6 redshank on the field pools. 2 med gulls were on the Mere, an avocet was in the Wader Scrape and the male bittern has just kept on booming...
Lauren then told me that there were sightings of 3 common tern, sand martins, avocet, oystercatcher and that all three female bitterns were seen today from the Bittern Hide and also the Bittern Bus Stop.
She then told me that there were many brimstone butterflies seen around the visitor centre and that a 4 spotted chaser dragonfly was seen around the ponds.
And that's about it I'm afraid. I'm sure that all the usual suspects were still around if you are planning a visit this weekend.
