Hello again, it’s blog time once more and today I’ll start with the satellite site news that’s in so far from Twitter.

John Seeviour was at Bolton Ings are reported the following sightings – 2 mute swan, 2 little grebe, 3 great crested grebe with 3 juvs, 4 mallard, 5 gadwall, 1 pochard, 12 cormorant, 1 little egret, 1 grey heron, 2 LBB gull, 1 common gull, 45 laping, 1 green woodpecker, 1 jay and 1 grey wagtails. Thank you John.

John Clarkson was at Edderthorpe today and tweeted the following sightings - 1130 lapwing, 228 golden plover, 13 wigeon. John went on to say that there were very few wildfowl at the moment and that a peregrine was active and causing mayhem. Thanks again John.

No sightings as yet from Adwick but if you follow the Twitter feed of the Barnsley Birders (@BarnsleyBSG), you see any news that will come in after this blog has been published.

On to Old Moor now and the sightings on the map below are from Gerald Lax today. Thanks Gerald. As you can see, the grey phalarope is still with us but there hasn’t been any news of the spotted crake today. The juv male sparrowhawk has also been seen again today in the Tree Sparrow Farm. If you click on the picture, you will get a larger and sharper view.

Good news from the Barnsley Birders on Twitter of a sighting of 6 bearded tits on Reedbed 5. Reedbed 5 is the one behind the owl box that you can see ahead of you from the hide at the Wader Scrape. That’s good news!

In addition to the sightings from Old Moor on the map, Paul Gould tweeted a sighting of a knot. Thank you Paul.

That's it for today so I'll finish with a memory of Oct 3rd last year - it's in the blog archives and can be found here. Oct 3rd 2017 was a day when a fabulous wryneck visited and this lovely red admiral was around on Green Lane.

Have a lovely evening.
