Some bloggers have all the luck! Yesterday, Nicola reported with the reassuring headlines that six bearded tits were seen at Old Moor as well as a knot, a juvenile sparrowhawk and an impressive count of lapwing and golden plover at Edderthorpe! (Scroll down for her report).

Today’s sightings were more predictable. Here’s the summary, with thanks to Paul Gould and Ian Morris for their recording…

This morning at Edderthorpe, John Clarkson reported eighteen redwing heading south-west as well as: sixteen cormorant, one shelduck, fourteen wigeon, five pochard, one little egret, a grey wagtail, a chiffchaff and 168 golden plover with 1,035 lapwing. Thanks John.

The only other news I have from Old Moor’s satellite reserves at this point is from John Seeviour at Bolton Ings. He reported: seven mute swan, six great crested grebe, five mallard, one gadwall, forty-three wigeon, two teal, one shoveler, twenty-eight tufted duck, thirty-five cormorant, one little egret, ninety-seven lapwing, eight lesser black-backed gull, two common gull, one herring gull, one snipe, one buzzard, one green woodpecker, three grey wagtail and two jay. Thanks John.

Until next time.
