Hello there, I have a full book of sightings to report so off I go.
I'll start with the news that there hasn't been any sign of the black necked grebes at Bolton today.
Starting with Twitter and the sightings today via the Barnsley Birders...
Broomhill Flash this morning - 2 mute swan, 2 great crested grebe, 2 kestrel, 2 oystercatcher, 1 little gull, 7 herring gull, 2 LBB Gull, 1 shelduck, one buzzard, one red legged partridge and 3 cormorant.
They then carried on to report sightings from Wombwell Ings - 1 oystercatcher, 2 redshank, 2 common sandpiper, 1 ringed plover, 1 wood sandpiper, 1 white wagtail, 1 great crested grebe and 1 little egret.
Next from the Barnsley Birders came sightings from early doors Old Moor - 1 2nd year yellow legged gull, 2 med gull, 1 bittern, 2 common sandpiper, 2 redshank and 8 oystercatcher.
After that came the following sightings from John Clarkson from the Edderthorpe area - a garganey, a little egret, 2 oystercatcher, 9 ringed plover, 6 redshank, a greenshank, a common sandpiper, a yellow wagtail, 9 blackcap, 2 garden warbler, 7 whitethroat, 2 lesser whitethroat,11 Reed warbler, c30 linnet and 3 yellowhammer.
John Seeviour was at Bolton Ings and reported the following sightings - no sign of the black necked grebes, 1 mute swan, 3 great crested grebe, 5 little grebe, 3 mallard, 7 gadwall, 12 tufted duck, 5 pochard, 1 grey heron, 1 cormorant, 7 chiffchaff, 5 willow warbler, 2 whitethroat, 1 common gull, 4 LBBgull, 1 buzzard, 1 kestrel, c 593 black headed gull and 15 coot.
Finally from Twitter via Kris Dutheridge - a bittern in flight at 3:30pm seen from the Family Hide and 2 avocet at Wombwell.
