Its all go in the Dearne, the first nest of bittern juvs seem look nearly ready to fledge, they've been sitting up in the reeds and looking interested in what's going on. Previous years makes me think that it won't be long until these inexperienced birds are showing themselves in some odd places round the reserve - keep an eye out for the gulls mobbing them!

A single black tern has been hanging around at Broomhill Flash most of the day, and was joined by a hobby at one point.

Edderthorpe often turns up great birds and there was a particularly smart grey plover today.....

Don't know how to turn that picture the right way up, but you get the idea.

There are plenty of young birds to see at Adwick Washlands and it's looking like being a bumper season, today there were 22 avocet chicks showing well and a wood sandpiper at the Eastern end of the reserve.

Think that's it from me, and I'll try to learn how to get the pictures of the sightings board the right way up by next week.
