Today on Old Moor;
A little grebe was seen with chicks on one of the wildlife ponds which is always a welcome sight ..
Little-ringed plovers were reported from both the Field Pool and Wath Ings.
Wath also had 2 black-tailed godwits and a common sandpiper.
A ringed plover was reported from the Wader Scrape along with redshanks and oystercatchers.
There were 2 red-legged partridges reported but no location was written in the 'sightings book.'
There were roughly 12 seperate reports of a male marsh harrier so it would appear that there is still one hanging around the area although it cannot be confirmed if this is the same bird which prevously caused so much excitement .
Plant seen include ragged robin, ladies smock, bog bean and red clover.
I must get a book on plants ........
Wombwell Ings still has 2 greenshanks and 2 black-tailed godwits.
Thats all folks !!
