Here’s a summary of the birds seen at Old Moor today…

At Adwick Washland this morning there were fifteen avocet (including nine juveniles), two grey heron, one sparrowhawk, one oystercatcher, seven little ringed plover, three ringed plover, one common sandpiper and one snipe. With these were lapwing, swift, skylark, swallow, house martin, sedge warbler, reed warbler, song thrush, linnet and reed bunting.

Meanwhile on Edderthorpe Flash, Graham Speight reported: one hobby, twenty-three little egret, one greenshank, five green sandpiper, three common sandpiper, seven oystercatcher, eight little ringed plover and nineteen snipe. Thanks Graham.

Also today, John Seeviour recorded the following at Bolton Ings. He saw: two mute swan (with eight young), three little grebe, three great crested grebe, five mallard, seventy-two gadwall, twelve tufted duck (with two broods of five and six young), thirteen pochard (with three young), one cormorant, one grey heron, three chiffchaff, four blackcap, two whitethroat, two lesser black-backed gull, one kestrel, one green woodpecker and a grey wagtail.
