Evening folks! Here’s a quick summary of today’s sightings from Old Moor with especial thanks to Amanda Palethorpe and Chris Harris…
The only news I have from a satellite reserve today was from John Seeviour at Bolton Ings. He saw: six mute swan, one little grebe, four great crested grebe, eight mallard, three gadwall, one teal and five shoveler. With them were thirty-four tufted duck, one pochard, twelve cormorant, four grey heron, seven lesser black-backed gull and one common gull. There were also 267 coot, fifty-one lapwing, one green woodpecker, a great spotted woodpecker, one jay, a grey wagtail and – wait for it – a hedgehog! Comprehensive work as ever John, thanks!
And with that and as it is already quite late, I shall bid you good night!
