Today we held our 2nd Remarkable Raptor days in Wigtown County buildings.  These family events are running every week on Tuesdays - your chance to find out about our local raptors and for the kids to have some fun with arts and crafts.  Today, children made their own prints with finger paints or made osprey masks and peregrine puppets.  Some VERY colourful peregrines to be found in the Visitor Centre!  The real thing made an appearance too, sitting on top of the chimneys for a different view while it snoozed off breakfast this morning.  At high tide, about 200 curlews could be seen roosting on the mud with oystercatchers, cormorants and a few shelduck for company.  The number of birds in the Bay is beginning to build up - great to see.

Don't forget Moth & Bat night this Friday 9-11pm.  Please phone in advance and let us know if you intend coming along.  If the forecast holds it will be a great night, a fantastic opportunity to meet the beauties of the night - not just little brown moths.  Don't forget your midge repellent or midge nets!!
