Hurray, thanks to the fantastic RSPB webteam this blog is now linked to the RSPB Crook of Baldoon Reserve webpage, which means you can now use the following link to find us: http://www.rspb.org.uk/crookofbaldoon

This address can now been advertised to the world, so hopefully we'll get some more supporters soon. This blog is shared between the Wigtown Bay Osprey Project and the Crook of Baldoon Reserve, so you can read all of our latest news here.

Just a reminder to anyone new viewing this blog, both the Wigtown Bay Visitor Centre and Crook of Baldoon Reserve are looking for new volunteers to help Paul and I out.

If you would like to help, please contact the RSPB Wigtown office on 01988 402130.

Wigtown Wildlife and Community Officer

  • Thanks, Paul.  I always have my husband with me anyway, so he can open and close the farm gates for me now I know they are available.  But we might just join one of your walks some time in any case!

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • Good afternoon - original goldfinch - there are farm vehicle access gates you can use it is just a case of keeping livestock out of the car park so we have made the self closing hand gate for the forgetful of our visitors. If you let us know when you are coming along we will help you as the site is not always manned. Alternatively join us on one of our guided ambles along the path to the Crook. Our events are posted on the website with new ones in the pipeline so keep an eye out for them as well.

  • Ian – I would love to explore the Crook of Baldoon reserve, but I see that a kissing gate has been installed.  Will I have access using my battery scooter, as I have mobility problems?
