I've just come back from a week's leave and found a fantastic level of comments and new photos from so many different (and in some cases new) blog users. This is great! We have a fantastic year long wildlife spectacle to offer, and the blog provides a great place to share it with others. It is brilliant that so many people are taking an interest and sharing their experiences and photos.
My some what morbid but exciting news to offer: The peregrine falcon has continued to use the Wigtown County Building Tower on a regular basis, this morning I found two detached wings from different birds (a wader and a starling?), and the decapitated head of a snipe lying on the pavement outside the side door.
Let's hope the peregrine remains here (possible nesting opportunity) into next year, so we can show not one but two spectacular birds of prey at Wigtown.
Oh, how gruesome, Ian - but wonderful that the Peregrines continue to flourish - wonderful raptors! Keeping fingers crossed then for a nest and youngsters next year along with the Ospreys.
