Does anyone know who Cirrus65000 is on youtube, and Cirrus on the RSPB Loch Garten blog is?

I need to contact them to ask how they put clips onto youtube.

I have very high resolution CCTV footage from the Wigtown Osprey Project (i.e. a few minutes is 1GB) and I need to reduce the quality to post it onto the internet. What file size do I need?

I hate computers! Can anyone out there help me?

Ian Brown, Wigtown Osprey Project

  • I would be happy to experiment if anyone can tell me where to find video of the same specs to work on.

  • Well, here I am Ian, but it seems that Scylla has said as much as I can.

YouTube does doe HD but that's as much as I know, sorry.

The thing is - as Sycalla says -  they will only accept up to 15 minute videos but less is MUCH better. They have to be UPLOADED which sometimes takes a VERY long time

So you need a YouTube account and then you use the Upload Your Video page to get the video up to YouTube from your hard drive.

How you are going to put CCTV footage on your hard drive is a question!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There IS a forum for questions but I'm sure you know how help forums go :(

I am so very sorry not to be able to help you. I feel I've let you down. We have a Tea Rooms Forum with many people who know things - it might be worth you while to start a new thread on Tea Rooms and see if someone can help you.

  • Hello, WBO - Cirrus isn't here until later.  In the meantime, I'm just learning about video and YouTube.  I use a program from www.freemake.com "Freemake Video Converter".  Yes, it's FREE ;-)  You can cut footage into smaller pieces with it, and when you have reduced it to under 15 minutes (I would make it 14 minutes max because I've had YT divide up one that was 14+ minutes but under 15.  In fact, I'd start off with clips a couple of minutes long.  You'll still have your original file because Freemake works on a "copy" of it and leaves the original intact)   Click the YouTube icon in Freemake and it will convert it and upload it.

I got grammatically lost in the above, hope you can understand it.

We at Loch Garten are not privileged with HD, so I'm just suggesting the above for you to try.  Good luck :-)

  • Hi Ian

I know Cirrus, she is a long-standing Member of the Loch Garten Community

    www.rspb.org.uk/.../915.aspx

I don't think she will be around until later this evening though.  There are, however, a lot LG Community Members who post clips on YouTube and I am sure if Cirrus or any of the other Members can help they will :)  Sorry I can't help personally.  I will try now to link your plea up with the LG Daily Update for Cirrus and others to see.
