Lovely sunny weather we’ve been having here at Coombes! And some amazing sunsets…
Several lucky visitors to the reserve have spotted the pied flycatchers down by the pond. Blackcaps and redpoll have also been seen down the main track. A soaring sparrow hawk has been seen over the valley and another visitor reported a couple of jays mobbing a tawny owl!
We’ve been moth trapping and on Wednesday morning, following a cloudy and warmer Tuesday night, counted 44 (yes 44!) Hebrew Character moths.
The site manager was also surprised to see the first bluebell blooms of the year…they usually come out mid-May!
