This week's blog is a beautiful poem written by Kayleigh Brookes about the wonders of Coombes Valley in the winter time.

A Winter Wooded Land

There is a wonderful woodland reserve

A beautiful place to go

At this time of year, now winter is here

Everywhere’s covered in snow

The trees stand out in the landscape

Their limbs decorated in white

And the river that flows, doesn’t mind when it snows

It will get to the Churnet all right

The valley is wonderfully peaceful

With the chatter of birds in the trees

In the sway of the grass, as you gently pass

Is the slightest hint of a breeze

Each season at Coombes is fantastic

And winter is one of the best

In the snow you can play, til the end of the day

When the sun softly sets in the west

This place has incredible beauty

It really is one-of-a-kind

And when you go away, the memory will stay

And remain in your heart and your mind
