At RSPB Conwy, we're passionate about getting young people outside and experiencing nature first-hand. And we’ve got some great news...

Free visits for primary schools in North Wales

A new exciting partnership between the RSPB and the supermarket chain Aldi means that primary schools in north Wales can benefit from free, staff-led visits to our nature reserve during 2016. Aldi are donating all revenue from the sale of their single use carrier bags to make this happen.

Schools can choose from a selection of half or full-day curriculum-linked programmes to explore the natural world with exciting hands-on activities. Visit our website to find out more about what we offer – we can cater for any age group, and run themed activities on seasons, plants, minibeasts, and a whole lot more. Then get in touch (01492 584091) to arrange a date – and remember, thanks to Aldi, primary schools in North Wales get free visits until March 2018.

We are taking bookings now for February to July 2016. There are guidelines for teachers and a presentation on our website too.

We are recruiting: Learning Officer vacancy at Conwy

We are looking for an enthusiastic, dynamic Learning Officer to our team at RSPB Conwy this winter to inspire the next generation through our schools on reserves programme.

We seek an inspiring communicator with good management skills to lead our education work at the nature reserve. Recruiting and leading a small team of volunteers, you will deliver engaging curriculum-linked education sessions for school children. In addition to proven teaching experience, you'll be a passionate communicator, able to enthuse groups of young people about nature.

Due to the nature of the work we will need successful candidates to be flexible as there will be the need to work more hours during Spring/Summer term-time and less at other times. Fluency in speaking Welsh is highly desirable in the role.

Full details are on our website – the closing date is Friday 6 November. Please share this with anyone you know who might fit the bill.
