A still, hazy day on the Solway - Campfield Marsh.

After an dull morning and an early high tide, the sun gradually broke through at about 2pm. We took a walk to the hide and were pleasantly surprised at all the activity on the way. Good numbers of Teal were swimming on the floodwater on either side of the Lonning. A Grey Heron was picking about on the far bank from the first Meadow Pool

As we progressed along the Lonning we were serenaded by a Robin and a couple of Great Tits declaring their territory.

From the hide, Pintail and Shoveler were busy upending on the wetlands, with a flock of about 50 Lapwing wheeling about but eventually landing on the spit of land in the middle of the water.

Towards evening several small skeins of Pinkfeet appeared to fly off the Reserve heading west across the Peninsula. A fitting spectacle to end a peaceful day.

Goldfinch and Tree Sparrows in their element.

Teal on floodwater.

Wildfowl (mostly Wigeon here) on the wetlands - Phragmites makes a good showing on a still day.

A good group of Lapwing restlessly flying over the wetlands . . .

. . . and coming to rest on the spit of land in the middle.

Lots of up-ending taking place.

A Shoveler sailing by.

Two more.

Coltsfoot by the hide - just coming into flower.
