The day was most certainly Spring-like with wall-to- wall sunshine. Although the wind was from the NE and much lighter than the strong easterlies we have been having, there was a noticeable warming up in the temperature.
Birds could be seen responding to this as I walked along the Lonning and looked into the pools and across the wet meadows, on the way to the hide.
Wigeon were cavorting in the sunshine; Lapwing were declaring their territory and a small flock of newly arrived Meadow Pipits (about 10) and a couple of Reed Bunting, were picking about the wet meadows. The most surprising sighting from the screen on the left just before the hide, was a group of six Snipe basking in the sunshine. They were very well camouflaged amongst the dry grasses but their movements gave them away. If you looked hard enough, some would put their heads up and have a preen, whilst others just disappeared into the long grasses.
