It has been a quite month for bird activity on the reserve. But look out for flocks of tits which are starting to group together; recently there have been a variety of other species in them including bullfinch, spotted flycatchers, chiff chaffs, tree creepers, nuthatches and willow warblers.

Its a good time to look out for migrants passing through at this time of year so keep an eye out for species such as whinchat or wheatear.

A warm day the other week brought out a variety of butterflies in the car park. Most were found on the small buddleia bushes so keep an eye out on them. I managed to capture the following photos.

Top to Bottom - Holly Blue, Red Admiral, Brimstone, Silver Washed Fritillary

It is the time of year to start looking out for fungi across the reserve.
