Today's Broadwater Warren volunteer work party was a special occasion because we presented John Martin with his silver Bittern badge in recognition of 30 years' volunteering with the RSPB. What a fantastic achievement. John started volunteering with the Battle RSPB Local Group in 1984 and organised the Group's outdoor birdwatching trips for 29 years. He began volunteering at Broadwater Warren when the RSPB first opened the reserve in 2007 and has been a stalwart of the conservation work party team since then. We were delighted that most of the Tuesday work party regulars were able to be there when John received his badge. Well done John and here's to another 30 years or so!
