You wouldn't believe it has only been just over a year since the scrape at Hollesley Marshes was completed. What a difference a year and all that hard work makes!

the once flat and featureless field is now a wildlife haven. We control the water level to create the perfect feeding and breeding environment for waders and wildfowl during the different seasons. As you can see the scrape is now looking great for the wintering wildfowl, who's numbers are now creeping up. Back in the spring and summer the water was low enough to provide muddy banks and edges for waders to feed on. We have 5 exmore ponies doing a grand job helping us (along with topping) keep the grass and vegetation down.

Hollesley is well worth a visit at the moment, although the waders are now disappearing you will be able to see 500 + wigeon, hundreds of teal, also pintail, shoveler and Brent geese. Cettis warbler can still be heard in the scrub, bearded tits are pinging in the reeds and stone chats can be seen sitting on the posts.
