Bempton Cliffs had two very special visitors this week...
John and Nancy Eckersely, a retired couple currently based in Flamborough, visited the reserve as part of an incredible 1, 200 mile charity walk for Christian Aid. Their walk started at Land’s End on the 1st of April this year and they are aiming to arrive at John O’Groats during the last week of August.
Their goal is to raise £45 000 to donate to Christian Aid, who are working to improve water supplies and sponsor farming improvements in Sierra Leone. Staff and volunteers greeted the couple at the Visitor Centre early on Thursday morning and introduced them to Perry the Centre’s puffin mascot before taking advantage of a photo opportunity. John and Nancy then headed out onto the reserve to visit Peckster and Flip (our infamous gannet couple) before continuing up the Heritage Coastal Path to Filey.
We wish the Eckersley’s the very best of luck with their mammoth walk and hope that the sun continues to shine on them throughout the journey.
