RSPB Bempton Cliffs is good for walking at any time of the year and in any weather, catering for long, medium and short distances. The cliffs today promised to be rather special and this was fulfilled with good weather, good birds and good company. Sunshine, blue skies, light winds and mild temperatures were the order of the day and approaching the cliffs, the sound and sight of thousands of sea birds filled the heart with joy.

At least 3000 Guillemots graced the ledges with their "gurgling, growly" calls and a scan through them soon identified a small number of "Bridled" Guillemots and a good number of Razorbills (my first on the cliffs this year!).

Scanning the birds on the ledges is always worth while, with magnificent Razorbills making an appearance (below)

Gannets continue to arrive on the cliffs, some waiting for their partners to return and some already reunited.

You never know what you will find at RSPB Bempton Cliffs and my morning got even better when I found a juv/1st winter Glaucous Gull, eating a Guillemot, below Bartlett Nab!

Throughout the day, Short-eared Owls quartered the fields around the visitor centre culminating in four birds late afternoon.

Todays sightings on the reserve!
