In my last blog, I said we had smashed our previous records for wintering birds on site. Well it seems that the bird weren't finished there, as we have once again smashed all previous records for wintering wigeon, lapwing and golden plover...

The amount of water on site is undoubtedly the reason we have so many birds, with some brilliant areas full of water and nice short grass ready for the breeding birds. It won't be long now either until we welcome back our breeding lapwings, wit breeding usually beginning in March.

Our volunteer have been busy hedgelaying in he last few weeks, laying an old hedge at the eastern end of the site. Hedge laying is good for rejuvenating old hedges and our hedge will hopefully benefit from this and become a home for a range of wildlife in the coming years.
