Spring is most definitely in full swing at Baron's Haugh now. The blue bells are popping up and there are the first butterflies to be seen flitting about. Many of our summer migrants are now back, with warblers such as chiff chaffs and blackcaps singing away. You can see swarms of sand martins over the Haugh and the river.
If you would like to experience more of this seasonal spectacle, why not come along to our Dawn Chorus walk on Saturday 10 May. A 6am start may not sound that pleasant, but trust me, it will be worth it! there will be the chance to learn the songs of many of our common woodland birds. Getting to grips with bird song is not as hard as you think it might be. On top of that you will be rewarded with coffee and croissants after a couple of hours out and about.
If you are interested in coming along, please email baronshaugh@rspb.org.uk or ring 07872 814911. Places for the event are limited, so please do book in advance. If you have any binoculars, do bring them along - if not we will have some to share. Under 16s are very welocme, but please make sure that you come along with an adult.
