Annual Heath Week events

Thanks to the wonderful staff and volunteers for a brilliant 'Darties at Dawn' walk this morning, on last day of the excellent annual East Devon Heath Week (see www.eastdevon.gov.uk/heath_week_2014.pdf).

Toby, the Site Manager, led our sub-group and was both friendly and helpful to explain the site's wildlife and habitat work. Sadly, we didn't see any Dartford Warblers, but did hear one's alarm call briefly, nor any reptiles (though another group saw all 3 snake species). However, we did see a few stonechats and a yellowhammer, and just missed the rain starting.

Having a cooked breakfast at the end was a real treat, and at a fair price when you factor in the staff time.

I'll definitely be back on my own and with the family to explore more and see even more wildlife hopefully.
