The shear number of wildlife to be found on the reserve at the moment is staggering. On a day like today nobody would blame you if you never left the carpark! What with the nesting Woodpeckers and Nuthatches, Marsh tits visiting the feeders, Sparrowhawks above, and the constant barrage of song from a huge selection of birds, it was hard for visitors to leave the picnic benches. Amazingly, the resident Tawny Owl joined us by the Information Centre for a picnic of it's own, much to the bad luck of its meal; the Blackbird in its talons! You couldn't even hide from the wild in the toilets, where I was called to rescue a baby Grey Squirrel from the men's cubicle!

When visitors finally dragged themselves out onto the wider reserve they were rewarded with views of Cuckoo, Crossbill, Chiff Chaff, Treecreeper and all the Arne regulars and some very photogenic male Wheatear.

Another brilliant day for walking in the wild!
