What seemed destined to be a pretty lousy day, actually turned out to be a very productive one. First bird of the day was a Woodlark I spotted on the drive into work.....when I say spotted, I mean pulled over on the side of the road and and searched long and hard for 5 minuets until I finally pinned it down by its stunning flutely call.

Dartford Warblers were still numerous on Coombe Heath as were the stunning Male Wheatears that are still passing through the reserve. The female Kestrel had to be patient today for no other reason than.....no sun means....no lizards or slow worms, and as the male Kestrel seems totally incabable of catching anything but reptiles, her solemn look said it all.

With the car park almost empty for most of the day, with the cold wind blowing and the dank drizzle falling, the Visitor Centre was a strong focal point for those who did brave the weather......and as they say...."every cloud has a silver lining" well it sure did, as 6 couples in the space of 2 hours all decided to show their support and become RSPB members. Thank- you very much, I hope you get the most you can out of your membership, and I promise we at Arne will make the most of your Donations.

Lets see what tomorrow brings....at least 1 ray of sunshine??? PLEASE ???
