BBC Springwatch at RSPB Arne – FAQs

Is the reserve open to visitors?

We are still welcoming visitors during the filming of BBC Springwatch 29th May-15th June.

What are your opening hours?

These are our opening hours, 29th May – 15th June:

Arne Shop - 9.00am-5.00pm

Arne Café - 9.30am-5.00pm

Welcome Area - 9.30am-5.00pm

Will any areas of the reserve be closed?

The Welcome Area, shop, café, and trails will all be open, with the exception of a small section of the red trail, which is temporarily closed to visitors. Please see this map for reference:

Any additional closures should be temporary and short in duration. Our friendly Welcome Team will make you aware of these areas when you arrive and provide alternative routes. Please be aware that there will be a production going on during this period. If you would like a quieter walk, our Welcome Team can direct you to the most appropriate area of the reserve.

Is there car parking at Arne?

The RSPB Arne car park is the only visitor car park for access to the reserve. Please follow signs and staff instructions for where to park. Parking is not permitted on the verges of Arne Road.

Can I get to the reserve by public transport?

The shuttle bus is available from Wareham station, Purbeck Park and Norden Farm Campsite for those using public transport. Please refer to the bus timetable here.

Can I still hire your All-terrain Tramper mobility scooters?

Tramper hire will be operating as usual. Please follow this link to find out more and to book.

We also have a British Sign Language tour of the reserve available through a tablet in the Welcome Area. An Easy Read Guide is also available. Please ask our Welcome Team for more information.
