RSPB Scotland Loch Lomond is a wonderful place for wildlife and people and over the past few years there has been a rise in visitors coming to appreciate the beautiful landscape, iconic wildlife and inspiring surroundings.

Loch Lomond has a year-round appeal from spring bluebells and birdsong to summer wildflowers and ospreys. When autumn arrives, the dramatic colour changes in the landscape are breath-taking and when geese fly overhead in winter with snow-capped hills in the distance, it’s an experience difficult to match. Our ongoing work here and recently completed projects have encouraged more people to experience these special places, but maintaining and protecting this landscape and the wildlife here takes a lot of time, effort and resource. That’s why we’re so grateful for the donations we receive and for our members who continue to support us.

But we can’t protect the landscape and wildlife of RSPB Loch Lomond without your help and that’s why we’re making some changes. From September 2023 we’re introducing car park charges.

There is no entrance charge here, but instead, from early September, our car park charge will be £2 for the first hour and then £1 per hour thereafter. This charge includes access to our visitor facilities including trails, toilets and picnic areas.

Once you've parked your car, please pay via our online payment system detailed in the car park (by website, or app). There is no charge for Blue Badge holders or for RSPB members as a thank you for regularly supporting our nature conservation work.

The income generated through our modest charges not only supports the vital conservation work we carry out to help wildlife, but it also contributes to the ongoing cost of running the facilities visitors use at the reserve, including the trails, picnic areas, toilets and car park. Making the trails accessible to everyone is important to us, which is why we’ve worked hard to improve access across the site, with boardwalks and rolled-gravel paths meaning more people can enjoy the beauty of the local landscape and the wildlife that calls it home.

As a charity, we must maximise our opportunities to raise income wherever possible. Your financial support allows us to continue with our charitable purpose of conserving wildlife and habitats, while maintaining our visitor facilities and providing excellent, inspiring experiences for our everyone here at Loch Lomond.
