Hot on the heels of the England football teaming securing a place in the last sixteen of the World Cup – we’ve just heard that the planning applications to expand Lydd airport have been called in by the Secretary of State. Both are significant wins on the way to bigger matches in the future. Call-in ensures that the proposals will now get the scrutiny they deserve at a full public inquiry and will enable the arguments to be properly examined. We’re through to the next round – but there is a lot to do to prepare for the final.
Enough of this football analogy.
The most import thing to do now is thank everybody who has contributed to this outcome – if you are one of the thousands of individuals who have contacted the Government Officer for the South East and pressed the case for call-in, then thank you so much. If you are as relieved as we are at this outcome – then do post a comment. And don’t go away, as this story will run and run. And if you haven’t caught up with this story here’s some background.
And finally – the sun is shining, Dungeness is a wonderful place to restore your spirits and get close to some fantastic wildlife. And as the location of the UK’s first purple herons to hatch eggs – there’s a good chance you can see them now as their feeding flights become more frequent. This is a good weekend to visit this special place.
Good news! We must fight this ludicrous and asinine proposal all the way! Dungeness is a special place let's keep it that way!
