Well, that’s Big Garden Birdwatch done for another year. And for us it was one year when most the expected cast turned up, with few bonus additions.
Big Garden Birdwatch is the foothills of citizen science, but I’ve come to realise that they a huge peak of connection with nature. My view on the world, as so often, affected by seeing them through the eyes of an eight year old. Jack loves occasions so we have Big Garden Birdwatch eve etc – here he is Big Garden Birdwatching from his little house.
Star of the day? So difficult to choose. Marsh tit for scarcity, bullfinch for arriving in the middle of the hour, a full set of thrushes? But for sheer joie de vivre - it’s the nuthatches.
I hope you had a great hour connecting with your garden birds – and thanks for stepping up for nature.
