No change there then!  As befits any self-respecting peninsula the wind can be a bit sharp at Dungeness.  But as the waiting continues to find out how the nesting purple herons are getting on (everything is still looking good) we're all looking forward to better weather coming in over the weekend.

On the subject of waiting – we've now heard that the deadline for calling in of the planning applications for the expansion of Lydd airport has been put back to 1 July – though the decision could be taken at any time before that.  We believe that the only way the issues around this controversial and unnecessary expansion plan can be properly evaluated is at a public inquiry.

On the subject of cold winds, this time economic, Lydd Airport has lost out as a tourism company has scrapped its plans to run flights to Jersey citing poor sales as the reason.  Let’s hope this particular white elephant is never cleared for take off.

And as a treat - here's another of David Featherbe's purple heron pictures.
