[An update from Bulgaria from Dora Querido]

If the first question that came to your mind when you read the headline was 'what is a flash mob?' then have a look here on YouTube.

The LIFE + project for the Bourgas Lakes has been supported by the RSPB since 2009, and every year the Bulgarian Society for the Protection of Birds (BSPB), the leading partner on this LIFE+ project, holds a student camp in the end of August gathering university students from all over the country.  Around 70 to 100 people camping around Atanaskovo Lake, Bourgas and only 5 people organize it all.  Remarkable!

Along with various conservation activities this year, the Project team decided to organize a flash mob with some of the participants of the student camp to raise awareness for the project, the birds and their habitats around Burgas. The 50 or so brave boys and girls that stepped forward had only 4 days to learn and master the choreography.

These fearless dancers performed in the very centre of the Burgas city, in Troikata Square. They were so enthusiastic about their action that it was impossible to contain the emotions and the laughs during the dance performance.  At some point in the choreography the dancers get together to create a sentence. Don't feel frustrated if you can’t read it as it's in Bulgarian! 'Life for the Burgas lakes' is aimed to awake the citizens of Burgas for the need to take care of their lakes and their biodiversity.
