Driving to work today on a cold clear early morning, I was planning ahead in anticipation of a busy day. Slowing down at a roundabout, I happened to glance up at the sky. A large skein of wild geese was passing overhead, quite low. Their necks were outstretched and their wings beat strongly in unison as they kept in formation. The encounter lasted only a few seconds, but as I drove on I reflected that nature teaches us to live ‘in the moment’, rather than worry about what may never happen. The sight of those geese, silhouetted against the sky, will dwell in my memory as a reminder of my ‘RSPB moment’.
