... But you can if you like!
Love Nature week is a real opportunity to Step Up for nature – and it’s happening 28 May to the 5 June and you can take part – here’s where you find out how.
If you feel it’s too big a step – here’s one family’s story from last year, Lucy Webber tells us how much her family enjoyed collecting for the RSPB during Love Nature Week.
‘I just wanted to share you with you all, our fantastic time on our recent holiday in Norfolk. My children (Jacob 13 and Joshua 9) and I regularly visit our friend and her gorgeous family.
‘This time we were invited to a nearby village to give her a hand with a street collection. We donned our tabbards, shaker boxes and our pin trays and hit the streets! The children loved it, we met so many kind and patient people who asked the children about the RSPB and what they're favourite birds are. We also met a lot of ardent RSPB members who said it was great to see children getting involved in the RSPB, who have a great programmes for children. ‘We gave up an hour of our time, that was all, and we helped really to make a difference. Now, when we go out walking, the boys are interested in what’s in our trees, skys and hiding amongst rocky outcrops, not just whats in the shop windows! We will happily help again, either on holiday or here at home. To all of you members, please give it a go. See who's shaker tin weighs the most or has collected the most. (The little ones did the best in our case)’. Could this be you?
If you’re still not convinced – here’s some startling stats and fascinating facts from last year:

3 brave men were forced to sit with dozens of tearful women during a charity screening of Sleepless in Seattle in aid of Love Nature Week.
1 volunteer dyed her hair purple to support Love Nature whilst another 27 dressed up in silly costumes to support the Week.
Just wanted to say how much I enjoyed doing the street collection and how many like-minded, lovely people I met. Such fun!! (Margaret from Louth)
