  • Insulate insulate insulate!  Doesn't have to be expensive either, we got thermal curtains for the entire house for just over £100 from eBay and they made a BIG difference - the house stayed considerably warmer with the radiators on a lower setting.  We also got free loft insulation from the council - worth checking out to see if it is going on locally (B&Q also seem to be doing some insulation things at the moment too).  Bubble wrap is also a blessing for covering drafty doors and windows and you can fill gaps around windows and doors with expanding foam - it isn't a long-term solution, but for less than a tenner for the expanding foam it will last the winter and block of entrances to coal air.  Large rugs can also cover cold floors (again - eBay for a bargin).  Stop the heat escaping, keep it trapped inside where it belongs lol

  • We have insulation in our loft, UPVC doors, (Front and back) condenser boiler as well.
