I heard my first ever corncrake on Iona in June ......... Limpy (my husband) was fortunate enough to get a tiny glimpse at a little bit of one! They are even less co-operative than the Cetti's warbler, and that is saying something.
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
