The RSPB President’s Award is our chance to recognise exceptional volunteers who have made an outstanding contribution to the work of the RSPB. In effect it is the RSPB’s equivalent of a volunteering “Oscar” and we only give out a small number each year.

This year, one of the much deserving winners was a member of one of our South East local groups.

George Noble has been a champion fundraiser with the Reading Local Group for nearly 20 years, helping to raise thousands of pounds for conservation.

As well as giving talks, George has helped out at Date with Nature events. He raises funds through selling RSPB pin badges, makes bird boxes and carries out bird surveys as well as volunteers at our Otmoor reserve most weeks.

George has equipped several RSPB offices with recycled furniture saving us thousands of pounds.

Reading group volunteers, led by George, have enthused countless members of the public about the RSPB at a whole host of local events, alongside our membership team who then sign people up as members.

George has even represented the RSPB at the Queen’s birthday party!

George is an exceptional volunteer, but we know not everyone can offer as much time as he does! Our range of volunteer opportunities is designed to suit everyone, so if you are inspired by George's passion and commitment to the cause, why not discover how much difference you can make? http://bit.ly/volrspb
